For children 0-24 months and their caregivers. Caregivers will learn songs, stories and rhymes to enhance personal reading time. These skills will help children build vocabulary, recognize objects, and build a foundation for reading and learning.

For children ages 2-3 and their caregivers. Songs, rhymes and stories teach children how sounds and letters relate to reading and will build a foundation for future learning. Interaction with instructors and other children encourages social development and allows caregivers to connect.

Meet the Strings

Dr. Juan Carlos Ortega from the Jefferson Academy of Music at OSU will be playing violin in the library from 3-4pm. Everyone is welcome to come enjoy the music, ask questions about string instruments, and perhaps have a hands-on demonstration if time allows.

DRAWN to be a HERO!

Educational artist and veteran teacher, Jeff Nicholas, will entertain the audience with original illustrations, humorous poems and stories while teaching you how to create his “heroically comical” characters using simple, draw along methods. Best for ages 5-12. No registration is required.

Preschool Storytime Class

For children ages 3 ½ to 6 and their caregivers. Children and caregivers will learn pre-reading skills through stories, songs and rhymes to help prepare them for their Kindergarten Readiness Assessment in Literature Test ( KRAL). Kindergarteners will continue to strengthen their skills. Skills include answering questions, repeating sentences, rhyming words and identifying sounds and letters.

Pet Rock Day

The best kind of carefree pet is a pet rock! Come to the library and decorate your own pet rock and even make a small house for it. For grades PreK-5. Registration is required and begins May 28.
