Book Buddies: Big Buddies

Help a younger student entering grades 1-3 with their reading during this 5-week series! Do reading activities and coach them as they read to you. We meet each Monday, June 10-July 15 from 2-3p.m., with training on the first day. Teens must commit to 3 of the 5 weeks. An application must be given to the Youth Department to register. Registration ends May 30 or after we have 50 teens. (Grades 6-12)

PEEPS Diorama Contest

We will provide all supplies, you provide the imagination! You will have an hour and a half to complete your creation. Winner will receive a prize. For grades 4-7. This is a registered event;registration begins March 6th.

Have a sense of humor? Be in our Harlem Shake video! Meet just inside the entrance at the Main Library at noon on Sunday, March 10. We’ll escort you to the Youth Department and provide directions. Wear regular clothes and bring your costume, hat or silly prop. All ages are welcome. Those under 18 require a signed parental permission form available either ahead of time at the Youth Desk or on the day of the taping. The video will be uploaded to YouTube and join the MANY other hilarious Harlem Shake videos. Join the fun!

March Madness for Book Lovers! 48 book contenders rumble for the title of Top Read! Vote for your favorites each week starting on Sunday, March 4th until a winner is crowned on Monday, April 8, 2013. Brackets and weekly ballots are available on our website or at the Youth Services desk. Winners get bragging rights!

Teen Poetry Night

In honor of National Poetry Month, come to the Lane Road Library and share your own poetry, or that of your favorite poet. Warm drinks and snacks will be provided. For teens in grades 6-12. Registration is requried and begins April 9.
