Teen Poetry Night

Age Group: 

In honor of National Poetry Month, come to the Lane Road Library and share your own poetry, or that of your favorite poet. Warm drinks and snacks will be provided. For teens in grades 6-12. Registration is requried and begins April 9.

Spectrum Storytime

Age Group: 

This monthly storytime is designed for young children on the Autism spectrum and/or children with sensory processing sensitivities. We will have stories, songs, and activities to encourage literacy and positive associations with reading and the library. This is a registered event; registration is limited to 8 children and their caregiver(s), and must be made in-person or by phone. This program is designed for children with a developmental stage of 3-5 years old; children aged 10 and under are welcome.

Fantasy Creatures in Clay (T)

Join art educator Megan Moriarity and make your own miniature creature with polymer clay. We’ll check out fantastical creatures and design our own complete with details like claws and wings or whatever you imagine! Hero or villian? Mean or nice? You decide! Centennial Crafts

Tubes and Marbles Hands-on Science Program (T)

Tuesday, January 15, 2013 - 4:00pm to 5:00pm

Age Group: 

Calling all young engineers! Students in grades 3-5 will explore the scientific concepts of speed, incline, and gravity by designing and creating a structure out of cardboard roll tubes that can, at completion, facilitate the course of a marble from Point A to Point B. DIY Terrariums for Teens

Age Group: 

Join local florist, Eva Provenzale, and build your own terrarium. Please bring a clear container for your terrarium with or without a lid. Registration is required and begins March 23, 2012. For grades 6-12.

Candy Creations (T)

Age Group: 

Come and celebrate the holidays by making a gift out of candy! We’ll use chocolate, hard candy and more! We’ll have 3 crafts to choose from as well as gift bags to decorate and hold your creations. So come and play with your food and make a sparkling gift for a friend or family member. Library will provide all supplies. Registration is required and begins on December 1st. For grades 6-12. Jingle Bell Storytime (T)

Dash through the snow to this fun winter music-and-movement storytime featuring jingle bells, snow balls and more. Registration is required and begins December 3rd. Gingerbread-style Graham Cracker House Competition (T)

Wednesday, November 28, 2012 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Age Group: 

You bring your creativity, we provide the supplies! Interested kids ages 9-12 will have one hour to build a Gingerbread House out of graham crackers, frosting, and candies. Finished houses will be displayed in the Youth Department and judged during Holiday Happiness on Dec. 1st. 1st and 2nd place winners will each receive a prize (participants need not be present; winners will be notified). This is a registered event; registration opens two weeks prior to event.
