Join us for a discussion of one of America’s finest sculptors. Trained in the Classical tradition, Saint-Gaudens rose to fame in America for his Civil War memorials, coin designs and portraits of famous Americans in the late 19th century. We will look at many of Saint-Gaudens’s well-known monumental works such as the Robert Gould Shaw Memorial and his portrait of Abraham Lincoln. We will also examine his lesser-known low-relief works and the extraordinary Adams Memorial in Washington, D.C. Presented by Ann Shifflet from Columbus College of Art and Design.
