Sew for a Cause

Do you enjoy sewing? Would you like to put your skills or hobby towards a good cause? If so, join this new sewing group and each quarter you will focus on completing a project for a charity. This spring, join Lorraine Clark of Project Soloved, to make 60 aprons for the Ronald McDonald house. The group will meet every other Saturday from 1-3. Feel free to bring your own sewing tools (scissors, pins, needles or even a sewing machine). The group structure and project will be explained at the first meeting.

Join us for an informal discussion of Four Seasons in Rome: On Twins, Insomnia,and the Biggest Funeral in the History of the World by Anthony Doerr. Author Anthony Doerr packs up his life, his wife, and his new twins and moves to “the Eternal City” for a year after winning the Rome Prize, one of the most prestigious awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Once there he tries to live, write, and get some sleep while remaining awake to the beauty and experiences awaiting him around every corner. Anthony Doerr will be visiting the UAPL in October. This is a chance to experience his non-fiction writing and learn a little about his life.
