Learn aboute the works of America’s first major school of artists. Looking at the works of Thomas Cole, Frederick Edwin Church and others, we will discuss how they related to the European art world of the 19th century and how the Hudson River School artists created a look that was also unique to the American spirit.
Ann Shifflet is an instructor at the Columbus College of Art and Design in the History of Art and Design Department. Her areas of interest include Art, Design and Culture, History of Modern Design, 19th Century Art, Romanticism in Art, Northern Renaissance Art and Zombies in Literature, Legend and Film. She holds a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Rochester and M.A. in Art History from the University of South Carolina.
