UAPL Master Facilities Plan

In 2022, the Library pledged to maintain its existing buildings, and it remains committed to this promise. Collaborating with HBM Architects and Interior Designers, we developed a 10-year Master Facilities Plan to address necessary repairs and updates. These recommendations — shaped with input from our community — outline assessments, space considerations, and cost estimates.

Now, in 2024, we’re ready to address critical issues highlighted in the plan, thanks to funding from the local levy. Major projects include roof replacement, HVAC improvements, and upgrades to various branches. Additionally, we’re excited to embark on renovations at the Tremont Road Branch, enhancing workspaces and service areas damaged by years of use.

The Board of Trustees met on February 27, 2024, to prioritize projects based on recommendations. We’ll present further details at the City Council meeting on June 10, 2024. Here’s a brief overview:

2024:

  • Address urgent maintenance repairs and replacements at all branches.
  • Begin layout improvements at Lane Road Library.

2025:

  • Revamp Tremont Road Branch for improved functionality and space utilization.
  • Enhance Miller Park Branch with updated furniture and shelving.

From 2026 onwards, we aim to renovate Tremont Road Branch, contingent upon finalized scope, design, and cost considerations.
