Lane Road Branch Improvement Project

Help Us Build a Brighter Future for Our Children at Lane Road Branch!

At the Upper Arlington Public Library, we’re committed to creating a safe, engaging, and inspiring space for everyone in our community. Now, we need your help to ensure the Lane Road Branch continues to serve as a hub of learning and growth—especially for our youngest readers.

Thanks to the 2022 levy, we’re able to begin much-needed improvements at the Lane Road Branch, but we need your support to bring our vision for the Youth Area to life.

Why This Matters

Libraries are more than just places to check out books. They’re spaces where children discover new worlds, develop lifelong learning habits, and build their futures. The new and improved Youth Area at Lane Road Branch will provide a vibrant, welcoming environment for our community’s children to read, explore, and grow.

But we can’t do it without you. Your donation will directly fund crucial upgrades that will transform our Youth Area into a space where imagination and education thrive.

Our Goal: $150,000

We need to raise $150,000 to fully fund the Youth Area redesign. The Friends of the Library have already contributed generously, but we still need your help to make this dream a reality.

Here’s how your donation can make a difference:

  • $50 buys new shelves for picture and chapter books.
  • $100 funds a new study table, giving kids a comfortable space to learn.
  • $250 supports flexible seating, creating a fun and adaptable environment for all kinds of activities.
  • Every dollar brings us closer to building a future for the children of Lane Road.

How You Can Help

While we’re excited about these improvements, the costs for the Youth Area have exceeded our initial budget due to necessary updates and additional features. That’s where you come in.

With your donation, you can help us ensure that children in our community have access to a vibrant, flexible space that fosters a love of reading and learning. Every contribution counts, no matter the size.

What’s Changing at Lane Road?

Starting November 11, Lane Road Branch will temporarily close for a major renovation. When we reopen in Spring 2025, just in time for our 50th anniversary, the library will have a fresh, updated look and exciting new features, including:

  • A new HVAC system to keep the library comfortable year-round.
  • Upgraded lighting with energy-efficient occupancy sensors.
  • Additional power outlets to accommodate more patrons.
  • Enhanced fixtures and soundproofing to create a quiet, relaxing space for all.
  • A new meeting room and study room on the first floor.

But one of the biggest changes will be to the Youth Area, where we’re adding:

  • Comfortable and flexible seating to make learning and exploring feel good for caregivers and kids.
  • More tables and chairs for children to work, play, and learn.
  • All-new shelving to make books more accessible for young readers.

Real Impact, Real Stories

Librarians and so helpful and kind. Kids story sessions are excellent at this branch. Enough books for early learning
This is a nice little library! I loved that they had a picture book binder ... to help you easily locate books that were on topics (of) interest to your children.

Follow Our Progress

We want you to be part of this journey with us. Check out our project diary for regular updates on the renovation and how your donation is making a difference:
